September 2026 Newsletter

1) Our next Cavallotti Dinner is Sunday, the 18th of October at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church (6234 Spartan Road) The menu consists of: Roast Beef , Gravy , Yorkshire Pudding, Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables, Salads, Beets, Pickles and Olives, Salami and Cheese, Desserts, Buns, and Coffee.

The cost for Members $30.00, Non Members $35.00, Children 6 years and under Free, and Children 7 years to 12 years $10.00.

The doors will open at 4.00pm and dinner will be served at 5.00pm.

As most of you are aware, we prefer that you pay by e transfer to cavallottilodge@shaw.ca. However, if you have to pay by cash, please bring the correct amount in a named envelope on the day of the event.

If you plan on attending, please contact Rene either by email freshstart.2016@hotmail.com or by phone at 250 739 1007 to book your seat(s).

As usual, we are looking for a few volunteers to help on the day. If you are able to assist (set up time is 2.00pm) , please contact Ian at 250 729 7539 or email at iandkcumpstone@hotmail.com 

Bookings will close a week before the event .

3) On Sunday, the 4th of October we will be holding a Members Meeting at the Legion 256 which is situated at 1630 East Wellington Road Nanaimo.

The meeting will start at 1.00pm and some of the things we will be talking about will include

* An Update on our New Building

* Coming Events. Cavallotti Dinner ( Oct 18th ) Halloween Party ( Oct 24th ) and Christmas Dinner and Dance ( Dec 5th ).

* Reviewing our Strategic Plan

* Archives

* Real Estate Fundraiser ( 27th of November )

* Members Well Being

* General Business

3) Our Cavallotti Lodge Halloween Party/ Dance will be happening on Saturday, the 24th of October at Royal Canadian Legion 256 which is situated at 1630 East Wellington Road Nanaimo.

Tickets are $35.00 each , which includes a beverage and a burger.  If you want to purchase tickets, please liaise with Christine at 250 619 8915, or you can email her at cfrobinson65@gmail.com . You can pay by e transfer to cavallottilodge@shaw.ca. We will be having spot prizes for those of you up on the dance floor and for Best Costumes. All proceeds will go towards our Scholarship Fund.

Christine will require a bit of help decorating and packing up .If you are able to assist , please let her know.  

4) A reminder that if you collect Country Grocer Receipts for the Lodge, can you please bring them to the dinner on the 18th of October, or liaise with Wendy at wjlc1@hotmail.com. 

5) The Vancouver Island Real Estate Fundraiser and Board Reunion will happen Friday the 27th of November. As most of you know, we are helping with this event and our efforts will raise $2000 for the Lodge. We already have 12 people volunteer which is great, but could do with another 5 or 6 people to help. 6) Finally, and with deep sadness, I bring you the news of the passing of Ignazio Babuin (Jimmy). Jimmy passed peacefully in his sleep, on September the 19th 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was a longstanding member of the Cavallotti Lodge, having joined in 1967. Our sincere condolences are extended to family and friends.
